Top 7 Places in the World to Travel for Scenic Beauty
There are places in the world that you visit for the food, some for the history, some for the adventure and some simply because you want to stand there and take in the beauty around you.
If you are someone like me who loves scenic beauty, mountains, blue waters, greenery and landscapes that make you stop and stare, these are some of the places that deserve a place on your travel list.
1. Switzerland
Switzerland is probably one of the first places that comes to mind when we talk about scenic beauty.
Snow-covered mountains, beautiful lakes, green meadows, charming villages and trains passing through breathtaking landscapes make Switzerland look almost unreal.
Whether you are standing amidst the Alps or simply looking out of a train window, there is something beautiful everywhere you look.
It is a place where you don’t need to search for a beautiful view. The view finds you.
2. New Zealand
If nature is what attracts you, New Zealand should definitely be on your list.
The country is blessed with mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls and vast open landscapes.
The beauty of New Zealand is not just about one particular place. It is the combination of everything — the mountains, the greenery, the blue waters and the peaceful surroundings.
It is the kind of place where you can simply drive around and enjoy the scenery.
3. Norway
Norway is another destination that can leave you speechless.
The dramatic mountains, deep blue fjords, waterfalls and peaceful villages create some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
And then there is the Northern Lights.
Imagine standing under a dark sky and watching green and other colours dance across it. It is one of those experiences that photographs may capture, but cannot truly reproduce.
4. Iceland
Iceland is for those who want to see something completely different.
Volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, black sand beaches, mountains and natural hot springs make this country unique.
The landscape can change dramatically as you travel from one place to another.
One moment you could be looking at a waterfall and the next you could find yourself surrounded by volcanic landscapes.
Iceland is nature in its rawest and most dramatic form.
5. Bali, Indonesia
Bali is not just about beaches.
The lush green rice terraces, waterfalls, mountains, temples and tropical surroundings make it a beautiful destination for nature lovers.
There is something peaceful about sitting surrounded by greenery, watching the sunset or simply walking through the rice fields.
Bali offers a different kind of scenic beauty — tropical, colourful and calming.
6. Banff, Canada
If mountains and lakes are your idea of scenic beauty, Banff is a place you shouldn’t miss.
The Canadian Rockies, turquoise-coloured lakes, forests and snow-covered peaks create spectacular views.
Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are particularly famous for their stunning surroundings.
The combination of mountains, water and greenery makes Banff look like a painting.
7. Santorini, Greece
And finally, we have Santorini.
The white buildings overlooking the deep blue Aegean Sea, narrow streets, beautiful sunsets and cliffside views make Santorini one of the most picturesque destinations in the world.
The sunsets here are especially popular, but honestly, the beauty isn’t limited to the evening.
Even walking through the little streets and looking at the blue-and-white buildings can feel like being inside a postcard.
Travel for the Views, Stay for the Memories
There are countless beautiful places around the world, and choosing just seven is not easy.
But scenic beauty has a way of staying with you.
Sometimes it is the sight of snow-covered mountains. Sometimes it is the sound of waves hitting the shore. Sometimes it is a quiet lake surrounded by mountains or simply a beautiful sunset that you happen to witness while travelling.
We travel to see places, but we return with memories.
So, if scenic beauty is what you are looking for in your next holiday, add these places to your travel bucket list.
You never know which one will leave you speechless.
I haven’t visited any of these places yet; they are all on my bucket list, and one day, when God allows, I hope to travel to these beautiful destinations and experience them for myself.
