The Journey I Took Without a Camera and Everything I Missed

The Journey I Took Without a Camera and Everything I Missed

A couple of months back, I went on a journey to my friend’s place in Mumbai. It was actually on the outskirts of Mumbai.

I was worried about all the luggage and about travelling with my little one. For some reason, I decided that I would not take my camera with me.

However, it turned out to be the loss of a lifetime.

There were so many moments that I wished I could have captured.

1. Missed Pictures With Loved Ones

A couple of friends gathered during my visit, and we had a wonderful time together.

There were conversations, laughter, and many fun moments. But we could not capture those memories properly because I had not taken my camera.

Of course, memories remain in our minds. But photographs have their own way of taking us back to a particular moment.

And this was one such occasion where I truly missed having my camera with me.

2. Nature Was Beckoning Me

Far from the bustling city, on the outskirts of Mumbai, the place was surrounded by mangrove trees.

I could not take my eyes off the greenery.

But what my camera missed the most were the beautiful and exotic birds that visited us often.

I could not have had a better opportunity to capture pictures of God’s beautiful creations.

From parrots to peacocks and cute sparrows, there was so much to see.

But the pick of the lot was a yellow and black-coloured bird that was so conspicuous that it grabbed the attention of my one-year-old too.

I simply thanked God for allowing me to witness such a beautiful sight, but at the same time, I felt sad that I had not taken my camera.

3. Some Moments Cannot Be Captured Again

That journey taught me something.

Sometimes, we think we are reducing our burden by leaving something behind. I thought I was making my journey easier by not carrying my camera.

But I did not realise how many moments I would want to capture.

The people may meet again.

The birds may return.

And nature will continue to be beautiful.

But that particular moment will never come back exactly the same way.

Conclusion

Going on that journey without my camera was convenient at the time, but I missed many beautiful opportunities.

I missed photographs with friends.

I missed capturing beautiful birds.

I missed documenting the greenery and nature around me.

The memories will always remain with me, and perhaps that is what matters the most.

But if there is one thing I learnt from this journey, it is this:

Sometimes, carrying the extra luggage is worth it for the memories you may never get a chance to capture again.
