Confessions of a Novice Photographer

Photography – Not Just a Side Gig

Photography is one of my side gigs, but it’s more than just that. I am a nature enthusiast, and that’s why I love taking notice of every little thing in my environment. Whenever I come across anything beautiful, I love capturing it through memories and photos.

I have an entry-level Canon EOS 1500D camera, and I enjoy having it with me wherever I go. Photography makes me happy. While taking photographs, I just live that moment, only to capture it. Then, when I see those photos later, it feels like living that moment once again.

The Beauty of Photographs

Photographs have the magic to bring alive emotions within us. You see a candid photograph from a fun environment, and it instantly brings a smile to your face. You go through pictures of your loved ones, and suddenly emotions begin taking control of your mind and heart.

It could be tears, love, or happiness—emotions come out in various ways through photographs.

My Interest in Photography from Childhood

Even in my childhood, there was something that always fascinated me about photography. This may be because I was brought up along with my uncle who was a photographer.

Photography Demands Patience

It demands great patience. Not everybody is meant to be a photographer, nor everybody who holds a camera. One needs love, patience, and persistence.

I can give you an example. I just wished to see those birds because I loved their presence, and not because I wanted to take their pictures. We waited for a fairly long period of time, but it was really worth waiting.

What I saw with my own eyes was priceless. Those beautiful colors brought a special warmth to my eyes and soul.

A Good Camera Does Help

A good camera is definitely a prerequisite. Having a camera with good focus can be very useful. Yes, finance is a constraint too. In due course, however, I will surely replace my present one to take even more pleasure in the world of photography.

However, having a camera can pose some difficulties. This is because people will tend to look at you with curiosity. Their minds keep switching between whether it is just a hobby or your profession.

It Is Never Too Late

Nevertheless, it was at the age of 40 that I finally had a chance to use a camera of my own after being presented with one on my birthday by my husband.

This is because nothing is ever too late to do if you have the passion or love for it. My journey has just started. It is a long way to go yet, but I will keep on working hard to improve myself. I am a good student, and I will definitely be able to make it there.

Meanwhile, I will continue plucking moments from around me and preserving them in my lens and in my mind.

Happy photographing!
